" This little book , Aids to Bird Identification in Southern Africa, began as a series of lectures to adult education classes in in the early 1970s at the invitation of the Wildlife Society of South Africa through Doctor Nolly Zaloumis; the series has been repeated many times in Natal, Johannesburg, Cape Town, East London, Swaziland and elsewhere and has now been put together in book form. The idea is to help birdwatchers, even the most inexperienced, to use the existing field guides ( the emphasis is on Roberts Birds of South Africa ) with a very high degree of success right from the beginning. The method is based on the dichotomous key which is fully explained and is used to narrow down the field of choice to apoint where the user can hardly fail to identify almost any bird in southern Africa."
