On the 9th of July 1875, two young missionaries, Creux and Berthoud, founded the Swiss mission station of Valdezia in the Northern Transvaal, with their field of action being a hard living and constantly tested society. The Swiss mission was famous for its high quality hospitals and schools. The Principal task was Evangelisation, however they strongly believed in the power of education as a tool to improve living conditions, with schools offering agricultural and industrial syllabi. Strong efforts to foster good race relations were made by the church, as well as a focus on cordial ties with other christian sects. This book, written in French, includes 32 plates and 1 map.
