3 Books in slipcase:
  • Alexander 01: Child of a Dream
  • Alexander 02: The Sands of Ammon
  • Alexander 03: The Ends of the Earth

I bought this box set to take on holiday with me. I got it at an incredibly good price. I read the first two books in 3 days and finished the last book over two days. Each one was hard to put down once I'd started but had to be considerate to my girlfriend on holiday with me.

I'd read books by Manfredi before so was aware of his writing style and it suits this story perfectly. It covers Alexander from birth growing up in Macedonia to becoming King and the travels that he then embarked on uniting the Greek kingdom and slowly freeing Greek cities under Persian rule, before heading into Asia and beyond.

It's all fantastically told with well described characters and locations. You'll suddenly realise that you've had a geography and history lesson whilst reading a true (always the best) story of a man's amazing achievements. I strongly recommend this to anyone who reads historical tales fiction or non fiction.

5 stars definitely. Once started, you'll be hard pushed to lose interest and put the books away. - Amazon user review
