Cultivation:
Prefers a moist but well drained, somewhat alkaline soil. Will grow well in heavy clay. The bulbs will multiply quite quickly to form large clumps, which should be divided every 3 or 4 years. Leaves may be harvested continuously during the growing season.

Propagation:
Start from seed in early spring, 60-70F/15-21C, or sow outside when frost clears. Plant clumps 20cm apart, ideally rich, light and well-drained soil, good to moderate light; does well in most soils. Divide clumps every 3 years in tthe fall.

Design and Other Uses:
Very well know culinary herb with a mild onion flavour. Has a beneficial effect on the digestive system and blood circulation, similar to A. sativum, garlic, but much milder. Leaves and flowers are edible. Also a decorative plant for edging borders or in the vegetable plot.
