Aloe namibensis is an attractive solitary stemless species from the dry Namibian deserts. It has pale blue-green, flattish leaves that curve upward, with very small, spread out, black teeth along the leaf margins. Aloe namibensis is distributed in Central Namibia to Karibib Valley. It has grey leaves without a stem and the leaves are about 50 cm long. Flowers appear on an erect inflorescence 1 meter high and are divided in 3-6 upright racemes of coral red flowers. They usually grow solitary or with divided heads forming clumps. Aloes are very popular and some of the most rewarding plants to cultivate.
Aloes can tolerate long periods of drought, but it is not true that watering should be withheld to obtain optimal growth. Stressed plants are more susceptible to insects and pests. Plants flourish, flower better and are more resistant when given adequate water during the growing season. However, be very cautious not to over-water aloes because they may rot if they stay wet for too long. Adequate drainage is essential. On offer is a pack of 3 Seeds - Germination instructions will be sent to your email. |
