Aloe nubigena has a rather restricted distribution and occurs in rocky grassland along the escarpment in Mpumalanga, at altitudes ranging form 1500 m to 2100 m.
The species is freely suckering and may form dense groups of up to 20 stems. The stems are up to 250 mm long with long, narrow, often drooping leaves. The margins have minute white teeth. The inflorescences are invariably unbranched racemes that are sparsely flowered and head-shaped. The flowers are tubular, up to 250 mm long, and vary from orange to red with green tips.
Aloe nubigena flowers from November to March.
Aloe nubigena is really easy in cultivation if given rich soil and flowers freely if watered adequately. A perfect plant for a hanging basket.
The plants that are on offer are flowering sized plants and will be shipped bare-rooted.
