The genus Aloinopsis is relatively small and occurs mostly in the Eastern and Western Cape Provinces of South Africa, extending slightly into the southern part of the Northern Cape Province. One species is found in the north-eastern corner of the Northern Cape Province. Rainfall is sparse throughout the range. The genus Aloinopsis is a group of South African Indigenous mesembs that belongs to the Aizoaceae family. Aloinopsis spathulata is a beautiful tufted dwarf succulent with a tuberous rootstock and shining bright pink flowers. This Hardy Living Stone has really interesting rosettes of thick, blue flattened leaves covered with magenta, yellow eyed beautiful fragrant honey scented flowers in summer. The flowers open in the afternoon and close at sunset. It is best planted in pots. |
