2005 first edition large format hardcover with dust jacket and 152 pages in good condition.

Celebrates the mural and beadwork arts of the Ndebele women, and those who have dedicated themselves to keeping these traditions alive. The book also documents the day-to-day lives of the Ndebele, as well as the rituals and rites of passage that mark important transitions in their lives.

Peter Magubane (1932-2024) is one of South Africa's most important photographers from the last 50 years. Working at DRUM magazine as a driver, Magubane began to take photographs and eventually became that magazine's most famous photojournalist. His photographs documenting the rise and fall of apartheid were reproduced all over the world.

In the course of his career he was held in solitary confinement and jailed on numerous occasions by the SA government. His images were used in TIME magazine and by the United Nations. In later years he received honorary doctorates from the Universities of South Africa, Fort Hare, Tshwane University of Technology, Rhodes, UCT and Columbia College in the USA as well as an Honorary Fellowship from the UK Royal Photographic Society.
