Wildfire Sonata amaryllis produces dark red, open-faced flowers for a vivid summer display.
Turn up the colour in summer pots and borders with Amaryllis Sonata Single 'Wildfire'. Its dark red, open-faced flowers form a confident display above upright stems. Each retail unit contains two true bulbs.
Plant in full sun or semi-shade in free-draining soil, with the bulb necks above the soil. Water regularly during active growth without leaving the bulbs waterlogged, and let the leaves mature before the winter rest.
Pack contents: 2 bulbs.
Family: Amaryllidaceae. Common names: amaryllis, Christmas flower. Type: true bulb. Sun: full sun to semi-shade. Planting: SeptemberJanuary. Active growth: SeptemberApril. Dormancy: MayAugust. Supplier-listed mature height: about 40 cm. Plant with the neck above soil; space about 10 cm apart. Supplier-listed flowering: OctoberFebruary.
Plant from September to January in a sunny or lightly shaded position with free-draining soil. Set the bulb with its neck above the soil and allow about 10 cm between bulbs. Water after planting, then allow roughly 10 days for roots to settle before resuming regular watering. In garden beds, water deeply every three to four days during active growth, adjusting for rain and soil moisture; in containers, water until excess drains and empty the saucer after about 30 minutes. Feed during active growth. Continue watering into April, then reduce and stop as foliage yellows and winter dormancy begins. Bulbs may remain in well-drained ground or be lifted after the foliage has died back and stored cool and dry.
