This amazing antique Victorian? solid copper coal stove water boiler tank (urn) with a brass tap and wooden handle measures 50cm long including the tab (41cm without the tap) x 16.5cm wide x 26.5cm high and as far as I can tell, was used on top of the coal stove to bring water to boil for washing and bathing. The tank has lid along the length of the tank with a hinged flap which can be opened for refilling without having to remove the lid. An article I found on the internet states that the tank was sometimes inserted into one of the compartments of the coal stove with just the tap protruding, which might explain the design. The tank is in great condition for its age and there has been some repair work done around the tap. We have not tested the tank and I would recommend that the tap be cleaned and serviced if it is to be used. The inside of the tank has a little calcification, but there are de-scaling tablets available from Pick-n-Pay etc. The urn would be amazing on a camping trip or where there is no electricity. Please view the pics carefully to fully appreciate this awesome antique copper urn and to confirm the condition.
