Throughout his illustrious 60-year career, Carmine Infantino held nearly every position imaginable in the world of comics, working with a prestigious list of publishers. However, Infantino will forever be immortalized as the embodiment of DC Comics' Silver Age. In 1956, Infantino played a pivotal role in revitalizing the comic book industry by co-creating the Flash, a character that would come to define the Silver Age. His artistic prowess extended beyond superheroes, as he also crafted the stunning cityscapes of Adam Strange, solidifying his status as one of the greatest sci-fi artists of all time.
Infantino's contributions to the Batman legacy in 1964 were nothing short of legendary. Teaming up with editor Julius Schwartz, he breathed new life into the Caped Crusader's comics with the iconic New Look Batman. Not only did he redesign the Batmobile, but he also introduced the world to Batgirl. In 1971, Infantino ascended to the role of Publisher and later President of DC Comics, where he made bold and innovative decisions that reshaped the industry. From reviving classic pulp characters like the Shadow and Tarzan to championing groundbreaking series like the Green Lantern-Green Arrow collaboration between Neal Adams and Denny O'Neil, Infantino's impact was truly unparalleled.
Now, in collaboration with J. David Spurlock, Infantino shares his remarkable journey through the comic book world, from the Golden Age to his corporate leadership at DC Comics and beyond.
