America's First Medals
Medals Commemorating Battles of the American Revolution
The US Mint issued these medals and sets around 1973 as a part of America's Bicentennial celebrations. The Nation's independence started in 1776 with the signing of the Declaration of Independence which was followed by the Revolutionary war or America's war of Independence from 1776 to 1883. During that period The Continental Congress issued it's first medals, celebrating great victories by the Continental Army against the British. These are all pewter replicas of those medals issued officially by the US Mint, known as the Comitia Americana Medals. It includes a booklet describing each medal in greater detail. All housed in a booklet form protective case.
