Not only is the American Silver Eagle coin to be one of the most collectible in the world it is also considered to be one of the most striking. Collected for both its weight and purity and its' aesthetic appeal the American Silver eagle was first released by the US Mint in 1986 and has been newly minted every year since.
In terms of its design on the obverse of the coin you will find the storied Walking Liberty design executed by Sculptor-Engraver Adolph A. Weinman. On the reverse is a different symbol of the USA, a majestic eagle resplendent with a shield, arrows and a single olive branch, a design created by the US Mint's own Sculptor/Engraver John Mercanti.
