Squid Sisters:

Callie is the cheeriest member of the pop idol duo known as the Squid Sisters in the Splatoon game, while Marie is the sassiest member.

The Squid Sisters, from the Splatoon series, are an idol group formed by two cousins. After debuting with City of Color, they quickly rose to top-idol status when their fourth single, Calamari Inkantation, became a massive hit. Their catchphrase is "stay fresh!"

Callie is cheerful and upbeat, she plays the comedic foil of the group. She likes being outdoors and is so energetic that she never runs out of steam. After moving on from Inkopolis News, she also made appearances in dramas.

Marie is cool and self-assured, she's the one with the acerbic wit. She prefers staying indoors and relaxing. She also does a solo radio program called Marie After Midnight.

When an amiibo is placed on the GamePad, that character will be brought into the game. Players can either watch the character battle other characters, battle alongside the character, or battle against the character. The more the amiibo is played, the more it levels up, unlocking different moves, equipment, and customisation options. They will also level up faster when pitted against other amiibo fighters.

amiibo went on sale at the launch of Super Smash Bros. with more characters set to be announced in 2015. Characters already announced include Mario, Link, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, and many more!

Connect to a wide range of games:

In addition to Super Smash Bros. you'll be able to use amiibo in a number of other games, and how they're used depends on the game. Additional compatible games include Mario Party 10 and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

In Super Smash Bros. you can transfer the data from your amiibo so it can appear in the game and fight for you. As your amiibo fights, it will develop its own unique attributes and skills, becoming stronger and learning new moves. You can even add your own twist to combat by customising special moves!

You can use amiibo on Nintendo Switch by tapping them to the NFC touchpoint on the right Joy-Con or the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.

New Nintendo 3DS systems:

You can use amiibo on New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL by tapping them to the NFC area on the bottom screen.

Nintendo 3DS and 2DS + NFC Reader/Writer:

You can use amiibo on Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS via the NFC Reader/Writer accessory.

Nintendo Wii U:

You can use amiibo on Wii U by tapping them to the NFC touchpoint on the Wii U GamePad.
