Ammolite is a uniquely fossilized remnant of the Ammonite Sea Creature that can be found
exclusively throughout Alberta's Rocky Mountain area and other dwindling sites
across North America.

Part of what makes these stones so unique, as well as their scarce deposits, is
the fact that they are organic gemstones, just like pearls or ivory, only so fragile
that they need to be mined by hand and moved around with the utmost of care.

The Ammolite then needs to be cut by only the most disciplined of  
professionals in order to produce an item of precious gemstone quality, without
allowing it to shatter in the process. Most wire artists use gold-filled wire to wire wrap their jewelry pieces. Rolled gold wire is created by taking a sheet of 14K gold and bonding it using extreme heat and pressure to a core of semi-precious metal such as brass.
