A fascinating piece of South African History - not to be missed
We discovered this Port in a cellar in a house in Johannesburg. It had lain unseen & undisturbed for at least 18 years. The door to the cellar was covered with a large, but movable book case, and the current occupant had no idea the cellar existed.
With help from Consol & Muratie we have estimated the date of vintage to be around 1979 to 1981 but it is no more than an estimate. The cellar was cool, dark & probably perfect for keeping wine. Despite this we think this Port is past its best, even if you're a varsity student. We cannot test it so we suggest you buy it for it's interest value & as a unique part of South African history rather than to drink
The Muratie story starts back in 1685 with a classic love story and endures to this day and Muratie is still producing fine wines.
Read the Muratie story & you will feel the history in this bottle
As we don't want to disturb this Port any more than necessary, we are only making it available for collection in Johannesburg
