This spectacular antique Royal Albert Oriental (Black) pattern tea set dates to the 1950's and was exclusively produced in the Smooth-cup shape in the 1950's. The 1950's Oriental pattern is rated as Extremely rare. The Oriental pattern was re-introduced in the 1960's with the Malvern-cup shape and included five different colours, namely Turquoise, Blue, Purple, Black and Hot Pink. The Hot pink was produced in limited quantities and is the rarest colour of the Oriental pattern.
The tea set includes the 6-cup teapot, the creamer/ milk jug, the sugar bowl, the pastry plate and six of each of the cups, saucers and cake plates.
The set is extremely clean and has absolutely no chips or cracks in the fine china and the gold gilt is still stunning. The set was kept in a cabinet and has its original lustre and bold colours.
The teapot measures 25cm long (including the handle) x 18cm high, the creamer is 12.5cm long (including the handle) x 12cm high, the sugar bowl is 11.5cm wide x 5cm high, the pastry plate is 24cm long x 22.5cm wide, the tea-cups are 10.5cm long including the handles x 8.5cm wide x 7cm high, the saucers are 14cm across and the cake plates are 16cm across.
This is the first time that we have ever come across this rare pattern and it is highly prized as a must have for collector of rare vintage and antique Royal Albert. Many of the collectors search worldwide to complete all five colours and six sets produced in this amazing pattern. There is not a single full tea set available on the internet. The last one that I could find sold for USD2000.
Please view the pics carefully to fully appreciate this magnificent mid-century Royal Albert Oriental tea set and to confirm the condition. It truly is in amazing condition for its age.
