An extremely rare hand blown "caged" glass vase with a handmade & painted metal papyrus cage

This extremely rare hand blown "caged" glass vase with a handmade and hand painted papyrus themed metal cage is truly an incredible find and an absolutely one of a kind piece. The vase measures 21cm across and is 35.5cm high. The technique used to create the vase has its roots as far back as the fourth century although this vase is most likely a mid-century (c1950) piece. Caged or "Imprisoned" glass" was made by welding metal (with diamond, square, or circle cutouts) into cylinders and blowing the glass into it. Many of the glass making countries of the world such as Italy and the now Czechoslovakia produced this style of glass in the early 1900's. There are no two pieces alike. The vase has been hand painted with the edges done with (by the looks of it) a gold leaf. There is a little age related wear and tear, but the vase is still a beautiful and very presentable piece. There are no chips in the glass vase. Please view the pics carefully to fully appreciate this one-of-a-kind exclusively hand made caged vase and to confirm the condition. Although the vase can be posted, we highly recommend that it rather be couriered.
