This incredible antique 1905 Edwardian hallmarked sterling silver "Transvaal Bisley" shooting trophy is an amazing find and is engraved as follows: Transvaal Bisley ,1906, The "Arcadia" Cup, Second Prize, Won by Sergt. TF Strange. The trophy cup measures 11cm high x 7cm across. The hallmarks on the cup are as follows" The makers mark is GN over RH confirming the cup was made by George Nathan and Ridley Hayes, the Lion passant confirming the cup is British sterling silver (925), the three corn sheaves confirming the cup was made in Chester and the letter "E" confirming the cup was made in 1905. The cup weighs and incredible 172.9g. The interesting fact is that in 1905/ 1906, the Transvaal was a colony of Britain at that stage before it was included as a province of the Union of South Africa in 1910.
