THIS INCREDIBLE RARE ANTIQUE PRE-WW1 "18 POUNDER" (QUICK FIRING) ARTILLERY SHRAPNEL SHELL IS DATED 18-12-05. THIS IS A FIRST ISSUE SHELL (AS PER THE MARKINGS ON THE SIDE). THE "QF" STAMP MEANS ITS A QUICK FIRING SHELL, AND THE "18 PR" MEANS ITS AN 18 POUNDER. THE I BELOW THAT MEANS ITS A FIRST ISSUE SHELL. I AM NOT ABLE TO ESTABLISH WHO THE MANUFACTURER, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THEIR INITIALS ARE E.O.O. THE DATE "18-12-05" ON THE SHELL WAS THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE. THIS IS A VERY RARE FIND AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND ANOTHER ONE LIKE IT (THE FIRST ISSUE) ON THE INTERNET.
