What have we here ? On offer is this magnificent vintage solid bronze eagle statue on a wooden plinth . This piece was designed in 1970 by South African artist and sculptor Jean Doyle and commissioned by Sanlam . There is a smaller version being the "bronze" award and a larger version , the "gold" award , this one is the "silver" award . There is allot of information available about this piece including a video which shows how the statues are made as well as all the above mentioned information . Artworks by Jean Doyle a quarter this size sell from £700 .... Definitely a worthwhile piece to research and a cool investment . No signature , this piece is well documented in all respects . 

From the Jean Doyle Website : " She has produced a number of world renowned sculptures that are located all over Africa. These include monumental works such as Nelson Mandela's "Long walk to Freedom" monument situated at the Groot Drakenstein Prison in Paarl, South Africa. "
