Product OverviewThe MAX3291ESD+ is a RS485/RS422 transceiver with pre-emphasis for high speed,long distance communication in 14 pin NSOIC package. This high speed transceiverhas one driver and one receiver. It contains driver pre-emphasis circuitry whichextends distance and increases data rate of reliable communication by reducingintersymbol interference (ISI) caused by long cables. The MAX3291 isprogrammable for data rates of 5Mbps to 10Mbps by using a single externalresistor. This full duplex device operates from a single +5V supply and offerslow current shutdown mode that reduces supply current to 100nA. The device hasdriver output short circuit current limiting and fail-safe receiver input thatprovides logic high output if input is open circuit.
