Product OverviewThe MAX3488EESA+ is a 3.3V powered, ±15KV ESD protected, slew rate limited trueRS485/RS422 transceiver in 8 pin NSOIC package. This low power transceivercontains one driver and one receiver. The MAX3488E has slew rate limited driverthat minimize EMI and reduce reflections caused by improperly terminated cablesallowing error free data transmission at data rate up to 250Kbps. It hasenhanced ESD protection. All transmitter outputs and receiver inputs areprotected to ±15KV using IEC 1000-4-2 air-gap discharge, ±8KV using IEC 1000-4-2contact discharge and ±15KV using human body model. Driver is short circuitcurrent limited and it is protected against excessive power dissipation bythermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into high impedancestate. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that provides logic highoutput if both inputs are open circuit.
