Product OverviewThe MAX488ECPA+ is a ±15KV ESD protected, slew rate limited, low powerRS485/RS422 transceiver in 8 pin DIP package. This device is used as a low powertransceiver for RS485 and RS422 communications in harsh environments. The driveroutput and receiver input is protected against ±15KV electro static discharge(ESD) shocks without latch-up. The reduced slew rate driver minimizes EMI andreduces reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, thus allowing errorfree data transmission up to 250Kbps. The driver is short circuit currentlimited and is protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdowncircuitry that places the driver outputs into a high impedance state.
