Franck Montagny is a newcomer to Panasonic Toyota Racing as third driver in 2007, but he is far from a rookie behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car after four years at the pinnacle of motorsport. Montagny was successful in karting before he graduated to single-seater racing with championship victory in Formula Campus France in 1994. When he won Rookie of the Year honours in the 1995 French Formula Renault series, he looked set for the top.
Jarno Trulli is renowned as one of the fastest drivers in the world, a reputation he has built up over a decade at the top of his sport. He first made his name as a World Champion in karting, before finding succes in German Formula Three in 1996. Thanks to the patronage of Flavio Briatore, he made his Grand Prix debut for Minardi in Australia in 1997. He showed well in his early outings for the team before being invited to join Prost in mid-season to stand in for the injured Oliver Panis. He finished fourth at the Nurburgring and against the odds led in Austria in sensational style, before retiring.
