Greek Bronze coins were not finished with the Roman conquest. Thousands of cities were allowed to issue bronze coins for local use until the coinage reform of Diocletian (c. 294 AD) imposed a common coinage everywhere.
Usually the obverse was a portrait of a Roman ruler while the reverse showed some subject of local interest, usually a variety of Egyptian gods, animals and other scenes of interest. The legends (words on the coins) are in Greek with most reverses dated to the regnal year of the Emperor according to the Alexandrian calendar.
The Greek numeral follows the symbol 'L' for 'Year'.
Zeus, the Greek God, the greatest and most powerful of all Olympians.
