Ancient Rome: Constantine I (307-337 A.D) Bronze Follis
Constantine I, also known as Constantine the Great, was a Roman emperor from AD 306 to 337 and the first Roman emperor to convert to Christianity.
The obverse shows the bust of the emperor while the reverse shows an altar inscribed VOTIS XX, with a globe three stars above with letters "PTR" in exergue indicating it was minted in Trier, Germany.
The "Votis XX" on the reverse indicate that the emperor made a vow to the gods for the prosperity of his reign for the next twenty years.
