Andre de Beer was born in 1933 in Potchefstroom.
His studies include a BA degree and MA degree in Fine Arts.
From 1964 to 1970 he was Chairperson of the National Art Society of South Africa and also a member of the Curatorium of the Pretoria Art Museum.
He was also art lecturer, senior lecturer, Head of the Art Department and Vice-Rector, at the Pretoria College of Education.
He became a full-time painter in 1983.
He is a painter of landscapes, portraits, still life, seascapes, genres and figures.
He works in oils, watercolour, ink, pencil, charcoal and pastel.
His work can be found in many private art collections, both locally and internationally.
Andre de Beer can be seen as one of the most versatile artists in South Africa.
Andre de Beer's art was featured in the auctions of the famous Stephan Welz & Co.
This painting was framed by E Schweickerdt in Pretoria in the middle 70's. It is believed that JH Pierneef sold his first painting to E Schweickerdt.
Andre's artwork has sold for up to R100,000.00 per painting.
