ABO Medal to Burger CJ Bodenstein
3 duplicate names on the roll.
Cornelius J. Served: Potchefstroom.
Cornelius Johannes. Served: Pretoria.
I do believe that this medal belonged to Cornelius Johannes Bodenstein as per the attached documents. I cannot however guarantee it but this is the information as I originally received it.
Served: Pretoria. Received the Wound Ribbon (Lint voor Verwonding).
IMPORTANT NOTE
It has always been a difficult task to find out with certainty in what unit a particular recipient of a medal had served. It is still virtually impossible to differentiate, for instance, between a Burger Jacobus Frederick Smith who served in Gen. De la Reys Commando and Burger Josia Francois Smith who served in the Heidelberg Commando since both medals were impressed BURGER J.F. SMITH.
Some similar looking medals can, however, be positively identified by correlating the type of suspender as well as the type and size of lettering with the date of issue.
This Medal is a Type A and the application was made in 1922. Please see the article from the SAPHA website below:
