The obverse features the allegorical bust of the Portuguese Republic with the inscription "REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA · ANGOLA · 1927". The reverse displays the denomination "20 CENTAVOS / 4 MACUTAS", reflecting the dual monetary system used in colonial Angola.
A clear circular line is visible around the portrait on the obverse, which corresponds closely with the circular border around the reverse coat of arms. As seen in the images, this effect is consistent across both sides and is most likely the result of a die clash combined with a developing die crack or stress line.
Such errors occur during the minting process when dies strike without a planchet between them, transferring elements of one side onto the other, often followed by stress fractures in the die. This results in the distinctive mirrored circular feature visible on this coin.
