Anine Barnard was born in the Free State and obtained her Fine Arts Degree at the University of the Orange Free State.

She specialises in portrait and figure studies – working in mixed media, she portrays her immediate surroundings and situations from everyday life. Minute detail is characteristic of her etchings, while she uses bright colours for the pastels. Her work has a dreamlike, naïve quality, evoking feelings of reminiscence.

She has participated in various local and international exhibitions.
