The Anisodontea (African Mallow, Cape Mallow) is one of the undiscovered treasures of the plant world. Its vivid pink, 2-3cm blooms, each set off by a deep cranberry eye, are borne in amazing profusion all over the plant. They are framed by delicate foliage of a soft pale green that is the perfect contrast for the flowers. Anisodonteas are vigorous growers, which has allowed us to form them into strapping. White to deep magenta flowers with a dark spot on the base grace this group of evergreen plants and low shrubs from South Africa. Leaves are heart-shaped or lobed. Water during the growing and blooming seasons and less at other times. Sometimes sold as Malvastrum. Plants are easily overwintered in a sunny window, where they will continue to provide cheerful pink blooms.
