Released in 1981 by WEA Records, South Africa this little ditty was a cover version of the David Lindley song "She took off my romeos" performed by ex Miss World Anneline Kriel. It is infamous in South African pop lore due to the involvement of the Sun King, Sol Kerzner, who it was rumoured bought 10,000 copies. All the money, hyper media attention a full colour provocative single sleeve all came to nought as the single, and Annaline`s career as a pop singer , crashed and burned. But then as `Annie` once admitted " I`m not really a good singer hey". What makes this copy a special collectors item is that it comes with the original launch party invitation held at Raffles nightclub in the Rand International Hotel and a review of same by respected journalist Suzanne Brenner in the Sunday Express (remember that!). I remember the single, the launch and the showstoppingly beautiful and utterly charming Anneline...how? Cos i was there. The vinyl is in Excellent condition, the sleeve has a touch of light scuffing, the invitation has a light centerfold crease.
