Another 'EEN POND' Is this GOLD or what? It's100yrs old & UNC!

This is a Genuine ZAR Kruger Een Pond Token!

INTERESTINGLY, DUE TO ITS RARITY & GRADE IT HAS TAKEN SOME 100YEARS TO FIND ITSELF SO SOUGHT AFTER THAT ITS VALUE WILL SOON  EXCEED THAT OF ITS IMITATED ESTEEMED COUSIN !

Although its the Imitation, it is undoubtlably a REAL Beautiful piece due to its crisp strike and eye appealing lusturous shine that Worldwide has impressed many over the years and no doubt been the subject of many stories where the greedy and naieve fell victim to many escapades set up by confidence tricksters.

It is one of the three or so variation tokens where on this example, the ribbon motto "EENDRAGT MAAKT MAGT"  was replaced by the words "IMITATION KRUGER SOVEREIGN". Other than that, it was minted to the same specs as the genuine Kruger Een Pond,except of course it is Brass!. Out of all the variations this is the closest to the "real thing"

An alternative to this one where the banner wording has changed, depicts Krugers beard  as a wreath thereby easily distinguishing the novelty ! The other two are also a lot easier to identify since the Date -1896 - on the reverse is replaced by word "IMITATION" The last variation is also easily identifyable as the bust impression on the obverse is a bad simulation of a extremely thin Paul Kruger.!

In addition to these Imitation ZAR Een Pond token coins, Half Ponde were also minted that were generally used as Gambling counters after changes in Briish law prevented further use of the imitation Britsh Gold sovereins bearing the bust of Queen Victoria.

This token is the rarest example and is astonishingly in a UNC state that provides so much more appeal when considering its 3 figure period of existence!
