In Another Way of Telling, writer John Berger and photographer Jean Mohr explore the nature of photography as a mode of storytelling and as a form of memory. Moving beyond conventional photo theory, Berger examines how photographs act as quotations from appearances, raising questions of representation, authorship, and power. The book combines essay, narrative, and an extended photographic sequence of 150 imagestogether forming a deeply original meditation on seeing, remembering, and imagining.

About the Authors:
John Berger (19262017) was an art critic, novelist, and screenwriter whose work profoundly influenced visual culture studies. His Ways of Seeing transformed public understanding of art, vision, and ideology. Jean Mohr (19252018) was a Swiss documentary photographer, known for his humanistic portrayals of ordinary life and for his collaborations with Berger on projects linking image and text.
