Antique 12ct Gold and Shell Cameo "Hebe and Zeus" Brooch

The antique, 12ct yellow gold cameo brooch is in the form of a short, gold tube decorated with engraving and gold beads and tube-set with a finely carved, oval, shell cameo (40mm x 32.5mm). The cameo depicts a slightly covered figure of a lady with an eagle. They presumably depict the Greek goddess Hebe (the daughter of Zeus, the Greek king of gods) and Zeus (in the form of an eagle). The surround is fitted with a gold safety chain and safety pin. The brooch is unmarked but has been electronically tested to be 12ct yellow gold.
