PLEASE BARE WITH ME WHILE I WAX LYRICAL ABOUT THIS BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE, FLOW BLUE DAVENPORT BOWL, HAND PAINTED, OVER TRANSFER IN RICH COLOUR AND HIGHLIGHTED WITH GOLD. AS A CHILD I WAS TAKEN TO MUSEUMS IN THE CAPE AND WAS FACINATED BY THE FACT THAT SUCH "OLD" PORCELAIN PIECES, BROUGHT INTO THE COUNTRY BY THE 1820 SETTLERS, MANAGED TO SURVIVE TIME AND USAGE. THIS BEAUTIFUL BOWL IS FROM THAT VERY SAME VINTAGE, 153 YEARS OLD OR QUITE POSSIBLY OLDER ? IF ONLY THIS BOWL COULD TALK !! ITS ONLY DAMAGE IS A SMALL CHIP UNDER THE RIM !! I HAVE AN ENLARGED PICTURE LISTED OF THAT TINY CHIP. I THINK THIS PIECE OF HISTORY WAS INTENDED TO BE USED AS A SWEET BOWL. LENGTH 24.7cm, WIDTH 20.5cm.
