The Bible was printed by Samuel Bagster, London. Based on the inscriptions in front, here is a short summary of who it belonged to, when and why it is regarded as worthwhile history.
1. Daniel Wilson, Bishop of Calcutta (1853). Books were written by the Bishop, and there are also numerous books/articles written about the Bishop. When you Google his name, you will see what it is all about. Even mentioned on "Wikipedia". It also looks like the Bishop signed/initialed the one page on 25th January 1853.
2. Looks like it was given to the Reverend George Lovely upon the passing of the Bishop. The reverend Lovely also preached in Calcutta, and later returned to Ipswitch. There are numerous articles on the life of one of the sons of the Reverend, who was a medical doctor.
3. In July 1881 the Bible was passed on to Emily S. Lovely, daughter of the reverend George Lovely.
4. In 1907 Eric Landon Brown, nephew of E.S.Lovely, got the Bible. He was a Captain during the 1st world war, and died in action in 1915. At present a war memorial is being erected in Ipswitch in honour of Eric Landon Brown and his men.
The above is a summary of what information I could obtain from Google, based on the inscriptions in front. My suggestion is that you verify the info for yourself if interested. The inscriptions have not been verified formally, but all seem to be authentic. The Bible is definitely from that era, and could well have been printed prior to 1853.
The Bible is about 16cm x 11cm x 4,5cm high. The outside covers show age and usage related wear and tear, but the inside pages are still in very good condition. Other: Slight colour variations possible between picture and real item. Please regard pictures as part of the description of the item.
