George Baxter (1804-1867) was an English artist and printer based in London and is credited with the invention of commercially viable colour printing which he patented in 1835. The process involved using a key plate (of wood or steel) and then superimposing colours from multiple (up to 20) different wood blocks. This particular print is entitled "VAH-TA-AH The Feejeean Princess" after a miniature by J.D. MacDonald of HMS Herald. Framed in glass 34cm x 27.5cm, print itself being 12cm x 8cm. In very good condition. Please also have a peek at the many other antique George Baxter prints I have listed on my regular listings. Refer images
