IT IS BEAUTIFUL COALPORT PORCELAIN LIDDED VASE, BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED ON RICH BLUE GROUND WITH HAND APPLIED GOLD GILT ACCENTS TO BODY AND HANDLES,
AN OVAL CARTOUCHE FRONT CONTAINS A COASTAL LANDSCAPE MOST PROBABLY BY JOHN H PLANT WHO WAS RENOWNED FOR HIS LANDSCAPES.
LIFT OFF LID WITH KNOB. PLEASE NOTE THE KNOB HAS BEEN REGLUED AS SOME POINT BUT IS VERY STABLE, HAVE TRIED TO SHOW IN PHOTO.
ALL THE GILT DECORATION IS PERFECT AND NOT RUBBED. FACTORY MARKS ON LID AND BASE FOR C. 1900. DIMENSIONS: 15CMS HIGH.
MARKINGS: COALPORT MARK USED FROM 1891-1920. THE STANDARD CROWN MARK INTRODUCED IN 1881. From c1891 the Coalport marks also include ' England ' and from c1920 the Coalport standard mark includes ' Made In England ' The standard Coalport Crown mark appears in many variations and can be as simple as a crown above the words ' COALPORT AD 1750 ' COALPORT PORCELAIN: The small town of Coalport was home to an important pottery founded in 1795 by John Rose. It produced Coalport porcelain which became popular worldwide. Production moved to Staffordshire in 1926. The company subsequently became part of the world-famous Wedgwood group in 1967. Today, Coalport continues to produce new patterns and uphold brand reputation as a premier English porcelain company.
