Antique 1906 Solid Silver Lee Enfield Rifle Spoon to A.J Innes (Rhodesia).
An antique highly-detailed solid silver presentation spoon in the form of a Lee Enfield rifle presented to Rhodesian A.J. Innes as a shooting award. As per other items on auction, A.J. Innes was a corporal in the Southern Rhodesian Volunteers in the early 20th Century. The spoon bowl is engraved "A.J. INNES" and "SCORE. 93". The rifle stock bears the silver hallmarks for Chester, 1906 and the maker's stamp for Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings (Frank) Shepherd. In excellent condition with clear, crisp hallmarks and in it's original, fitted case. Please see images above for more detail.
I recently acquired a military collection representing 3 generations of the Innes family from Rhodesia.
A.J Innes was a corporal in the Southern Rhodesian Volunteers (Western District) in the early 1900's and received a number of silver shooting awards (2 spoons and a fob medal).
K. Innes acquired a Rhodesian commemorative medallion in the 1990's.
