Unfortunately, as a Basic Seller, we are only allowed to upload 1 photo. So please feel free to ask any questions. This item is in all-round, very good condition!!! It appears to have all its original parts and we believe it to be in good working order, as it was bought at an Antiques Sale in working condition! The only problem with this item is that it is missing its original key. Therefore, no key included. However, the Auctioneer has assured us that another mantel clock's key can fit, in order to wind it up. Apparently it has a 8-day movement. It does have its original Pendulum (with the letters S and F imprinted on) and all its moving parts. It is a striking mantel clock. It has a open escapement. The porcelain dial and (beveled or crystal) cover are both in excellent condition. At the top of the porcelain dial are the letters S and F. It has the original finish, however there are some surface chips and scratches, where the iron is revealed. This can be seen when zooming in on the photo. It is not broken anywhere. Both of the animal, cast iron motifs on each side are also in tact. They are very impressive!!! And this photo does them no justice. They are magnificent! Again, unfortunately only 1 photo could be uploaded. The total size of the piece is 29,5cm wide x 11,5cm deep x 28cm high. It is extremely heavy, as it is completely made of iron. It weighs 8kg! It stands on 4 small round brass legs underneath. When you open the back cover, all the parts inside appear to be made of solid brass. The brass is stamped inside with the following: ANSONIA CLOCK Co., PATENTED, "A" (the "A" is inside a square and a diamond), JUNE 14.81, NEW YORK, U.S.A.. Then on the bottom left side it is stamped: PATENTED, JUNE 18, 1882. Then on the bottom right side it has the number "5" stamped in the brass. All the parts inside the back look in excellent condition, considering its age. THIS IS A VERY RARE FIND IN SOUTH AFRICA! IT WILL BE A REAL GEM TO OWN!!! Postage will be R120, due to size, extreme weight and packaging requirements.
