Offered for sale is a small  antique British measuring jug hand made from copper and dating to the mid to late 19th Century. The jug is referred to in the antique trade  as a "Haystack" shape jug and was used for measuring and dispensing alcoholic beverages especially Ale or Rum. This jug is inscribed "half a Gill " 1x Gill being equivalent to 5 fluid ounces or one fourth of a pint in the old British Imperial Measuring Units. This is a hand made copper item with the handle riveted and soldered onto the body of the jug.
