FLASH SALE
Antique high-quality 19th century Indian colonial solid sterling silver from the Kutch (Cutch) district of India. A rare and stunning three-arm epergne richly hand-chased with an extraordinary fineness of detail in continuous relief around the body, which is composed of three-dimensional floral and foliate arabesque motifs in the distinctive Kutch style. Beautifully proportioned, this epergne is elaborated into lilly-like stylisation standing on a slender stem with three scrolling side vines rising from the same stem as the Lilly, making the vase multi-petalled, and featuring removable vases in the shape of handled baskets. The baskets come alive swinging in a cheerful manner in response to any breeze in the room coming in through an open window or when you touch the surface your epergne vase stands on, bringing life into your space.
Will hold three roses, a fresh or dry flower arrangement, incense, or a candle. Baskets will hold chocolate truffles, candied fruit, nuts or anything else. Victorian silverware, produced during the Victorian era. A fluted Lilly vase has three round holes on top suitable for attaching a fruit bowl or a bonbon dish. Unmarked, which was typical for Indian silver produced during this period.
Condition: Excellent, minor wear consistent with age. Condition is exceptional with attractive age appropriate wear producing the antique character, which includes a precious charcoal patina rendering the silver ornament its rich vibrant finish, normal micro wear to the metal in some places and a minimal fixable bent to base measuring 0.3 mm deep x 2 cm in length consistent with history and use (as pictured). Has a unique welding mark in the bottom surface on Lilly vase consistent with typical hand welded imperfections of handmade pieces. The piece is free from damage, repairs, dents or dings, and maintains its shining silver. All yellow shades you see in the pictures are light reflections on silver surface. All charcoal coating or spots is patina.
