Antique Arts & Crafts/Art Nouveau Silver-Plated Bachelor Tea Set
This good quality silver-plated tea for one, three-piece tea set, from the early1900's, is very stylish and an ideal set for one person. The set has a strong arts & crafts/art nouveau feel to it, with what looks like three waterlilies in relief on each handle, very stylish finials to the lids, and circular bands around the top of each piece. Each piece is stamped on the base with a maker's mark 'GSE' which I couldn't trace, and 'EP' for electroplated. The pot has a faint engraving on the front that reads 'NEW HANOVER' & 'R.A. 1911' (This probably relates to a small town in the Natal midlands which was founded in1850). The pot stands 13cm high, and handle to spout 13,5cm. The sugar bowl stands 7,5cm high, and handle to handle is 11,8cm. The creamer stands 5,3cmhigh, and handle to spout is 7,5cm. Other than some minor wear to the inner spout of the cream jug, the set is in very good condition.
