This is the second scale in a collection of 7 that belonged to a geologist of the University of Pretoria who is now deceased. The scale is mounted on a wooden base and can not collapse. It stands about 18 cm high All the brass parts and the wooden base seems to be in a fair condition considering its age. The flat pan on the right is engraved with the weight of the letters. The only stamp on the scale is on the cross beam and it says Warranted Accurate. Similar listings indicate that this scale might have been made in England and used in the 1900s. I can’t say if the weights are the original weights.There are 8 of them: 1 x 2 lb; 2 x 1 lb;1 x 8 oz;1 x 4 oz; 1 x 2 oz; 1 x 1 oz. The biggest weight has three stars stamped on the inside and what seems to be two mini coat of arms with the R 1 on the bottom.
