Antique brass double Angle lamp - Angle MFG Co, NY c1890. From Angle Manufacturing Company, an antique double angle lamp that has been converted to an electric pendant fixture. The angle lamp was invented by Thomas Mara Fell and patented in 1888. By changing the placement of the burner and setting it on an angle, Fell created a lamp with less under-shadow, that cast more light on the area below. Wall mounted lamps typically came with single burners, and hanging fixtures came with two to four burners. This piece is embossed with the company logo on the adjustment knobs. The lamp measures 46cm (h) x 60cm (w). The lamp is old, and there is wear to the centre well - some small holes, and remenants of paint. The shades are also not original. The lamp would however restore beautifully.
