This Brass Kettle is in good condition.   It has a few areas which have had slight bumps which caused very slight distortion in the shape.   These are visible in the pictures.

The handle appears to be made of glass.  It is transparent, and has the color of amber.  The bolt holding the handle has lost one of the ferrules and has been replaced with a nut.

A lot of information on the James Clews Family is on the Web.

The impressed stamp on the bottom has the letters J.C over B, between two arrows pointing upwards.     Below that it has the words Best Hammered, and below that Birmingham Make.

The actual date of manufacture is uncertain.     This type of kettle usually stood on a matching burner, and the hot water was used for making a 'Hot Toddy'.   I understand that there are two types, the way the spout is attached to the kettle is the indication,    I am pleased to say that this one is the better one.

Size 190 mm diameter, 190 mm high.   Weight slightly under 1 Kilogram.

Please add R 50.00 for P&P, plus 2% for insurance which I would recommend.
