DESCRIPTION:
A rare brass cut-out G F C shoulder title badge with a khaki/black woolen cloth backing.
Gorringe's Flying Column were raised by Lieutenant-Colonel George Frederick Gorringe in
1901 and served in the Cape Colony against numerous Boer Commandos. On 2nd March 1901
Gorringe formed a military court on the farm Rietvallei, near Middelburg, Cape Colony to try,
in absentia, Cape Rebel Hendrik Jacobus van Heerden, who was executed by firing squad
shortly after the court had reached its decision, for which he is infamously remembered.
CONDITION:
Some scratches and tarnishing, with intact lugs and split pin.
