ON AUCTION IS AN ANTIQUE (c1883-1963) HALF TON CAST IRON PULLEY CHAIN BLOCK MADE BY YALE AND TOWNE IN THE USA. IT IS STILL FUNCTIONAL BUT WOULD MAKE FOR AN AWESOME DECORATIVE PIECE AS WELL.
 
IT IS MARKED ON THE PULLEY WHEEL. YALE & TOWNE MFG CO. 1/2 TON BLOCK DIFFERENTIAL. THE PULLEY IS CAST IRON WITH A STEEL SUPPORT BASE AND LARGE HOOK.
 
The Yale pulleys were produced between 1875 and 1963, a period during which the company made several changes to its manufacturing and branding. However between 1875 and 1883s after Yale secured the rights to the Weston differential pulley, pulley blocks were marked with "Yale-Weston" or "Weston Differential Pulley Block" markings. BETWEEN 1883 AND 1963 THE COMPANY WAS FORMALLY ESTABLISHED AS YALE & TOWNE AND PULLEYS WERE MARKED "THE YALE & TOWNE MFG. CO." AS IS THIS PULLEY ON AUCTION.
 
SOME RIM DAMAGE AND SURFACE RUST BUT STILL TURNS SMOOTHLY AND IS FULLY FUNCTIONAL. IT WOULD LOOK NICE HOLDING A LIGHT FIXTURE OR ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D WANT TO HANG WITH ROPE OR WIRE TO DISPLAY FROM A LOFT. It would work perfectly for hanging plants on the porch, turn it into an industrial style lamp, or add a chain and wire baskets for fruits and vegetables, towels in the bathroom the possibilities are endless.

CONDITION: SOME CHIPS OFF THE EDGE BUT STILL TURNS FREELY AND IS FULLY FUNCTIONAL.
 
YALE & TOWNE (1868-1963):
The Yale & Towne Manufacturing Company, founded by Linus Yale Jr. and Henry R. Towne in 1868, was a historic American company that pioneered the cylinder lock and expanded into materials handling equipment like hoists and forklifts. 
Yale & Towne expanded into other areas, including manual chain hoists in 1875 and a range of padlocks in 1879. Yale introduced some of the first electric forklift trucks in 1920, marking a significant innovation in industrial equipment. 
In 1963, Eaton Corporation merged with Yale & Towne Manufacturing. In August 2000, Yale was purchased by the ASSA ABLOY Group, but the Yale brand continues to be a key part of their security products.
